Why surah Yusuf is the Best Story in the Quran?  

The Qur’an contains many stories, but Allah calls the story of Yusuf A.S “the best of stories.”

نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ أَحْسَنَ الْقَصَصِ

Naḥnu naquṣṣu ʿalayka aḥsanal-qaṣaṣ.

Translation 
“We relate to you the best of stories through this Qur’an.”

This story is not just history—it contains deep spiritual and psychological wisdom.

A Dream That Began the Journey

When Yusuf A.S was a child, he saw a dream and told it to his father .

إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ أَحَدَ عَشَرَ كَوْكَبًا وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ رَأَيْتُهُمْ لِي سَاجِدِينَ

Inni ra'aytu aḥada ‘ashara kawkaban wash-shamsa wal-qamara ra'aytuhum li sājidīn.

Translation 
“I saw eleven stars, the sun, and the moon prostrating to me.”

His father understood its meaning and warned him not to tell his brothers.

Jealousy and the Well

Yusuf’s brothers became jealous and threw him into a well.
But what looked like a tragedy was actually part of Allah’s plan.

He was later taken to , where his life took another turn.

The Test of Temptation

In Egypt, the wife of his master tried to tempt him.

But Yusuf A.S chose righteousness.

مَعَاذَ اللَّهِ

Maʿādhallāh.

Translation
“I seek refuge in Allah.”

Because of this, he was imprisoned despite being innocent.

Patience Leads to Honor

Even in prison, Yusuf A.S remained patient.
Later, he interpreted the king’s dream and was given authority in Egypt.

The boy who was once thrown into a well became a respected leader.

The Power of Forgiveness

Years later, Yusuf’s brothers came to Egypt seeking food.
When they realized who he was, they were ashamed.

But Yusuf A.S forgave them.

لَا تَثْرِيبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ

Lā tathrība ‘alaykumul-yawm.

Translation
“No blame will there be upon you today.”

Hidden Psychological Wisdom

This story contains deep insights about human nature:

1. Jealousy destroys relationships.
The brothers’ jealousy led them to injustice.

2. Patience builds strength.
Despite hardship, Yusuf A.S trusted Allah.

3. Forgiveness brings peace.
Instead of revenge, Yusuf A.S chose mercy.

According to Tafseer

Some classical tafsir mention that zuleikha later repented and accepted faith, and eventually married to hazrat yusaf A.S when Allah restored her youth 

This narration is mentioned in tafsir works such as those of Ibn Kathir & Al-Tabari  and , although it is not explicitly detailed in the Qur’an itself.

Final Lesson

At the beginning of this story there was jealousy, separation, and prison.
But in the end there was reunion, honor, and forgiveness. A happy ending just because everyone accepted Allah's plan with their heart they acted according to Allah's will Yusuf A.S accept Allah's will and stayed patient hazrat Yaqoob A.S cried a lot because of the pain of separation with his beloved son but he trusted Allah's promise with heart later Yusuf A.S forgave with sincerity and his brothers accepted his superiority with heart because he didn't choose for him self but it was Allah's will that he wanted to elevate him with his wisdom 

 This is why it is called the best story.

Because Allah wants the best for everyone — even when we cannot see it at the moment.
